“…These findings suggest that a shorter time from PCOS diagnosis or lower BMI at baseline is associated with a greater likelihood of resumption of menses in PCOS patients with obesity after LSG. Growing evidence has demonstrated that hyperandrogenemia is significantly associated with long and irregular menstruation in women with PCOS, 45 , 46 and ovarian hyperandrogenism can inhibit folliculogenesis and lead to polyfollicular morphology. 47 , 48 In accordance with previous studies, our findings indicate that a high circulating TT level was an independent risk factor for the restoration of menstrual regularity in PCOS patients with obesity after LSG.…”

“…Moreover, growing evidence has demonstrated that the menstrual cycle abnormality appeared to be associated with more pronounced insulin resistance and hyperandrogenemia in PCOS [ 38 , 39 ], as insulin resistance can induce oligo-or anovulation and cause menstrual cycle irregularity by exacerbating hyperandrogenemia and disrupting follicular growth [2,40 ]. In addition, previous studies showed that hyperandrogenemia was signi cantly associated with long and irregular menstruation in women with PCOS [ 41 ]. Ovarian hyperandrogenism can inhibit folliculogenesis and lead to poly-follicular morphology, which can disrupt the menstrual cycle.…”

“…In this study, SGLT‐2i showed the most beneficial improvements in metabolic parameters among drug classes. Interestingly, compared to either drug alone, the combination of metformin and GLP‐1 agonist demonstrated the most favourable free androgen index profile, a marker of quality of life and ovulatory health in patients with PCOS 140–142 . This might suggest that the combination of metformin and SGLT‐2i might present similar synergistic effects, albeit trials of this nature have yet to be developed.…”
