“…of the ILs in solution. Trends in conductance of aqueous cationic TTAB in the presence of ILs are similar to those observed by Zhang et al [48] for the aqueous Triton X-100 surfactant system in the presence of [C 12 mim][BF 4 ]; these trends are different from those observed for aqueous cationic, anionic, nonionic and aqueous zwitterionic surfactants upon addition of IL [21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][36][37][38][39][40]. For a fixed concentration of TTAB, as the concentration of the ILs was increased from 0.2 to 1.0 wt%, the specific conductance increased by a reasonable amount.…”

“…The CMC values are presented in Table 2 and are found to be in good [64]. Several other reports suggest either no change in the CMC [24], decrease in the CMC [22,[25][26][27][65][66][67][68][69], or increase in the CMC [23,28,29,[36][37][38]40] upon addition of the ILs. Looking at these results it is premature to correlate the ILs with the common electrolytes for properties of aqueous solutions with TTAB.…”

“…Above 10.0 wt.% of IL, due to high amount of IL in the solution media, huge number of IL molecules surrounds the TTAB monomers, thus allows lesser number of surfactant molecules to form the micellar aggregate. These results are different from what observed in case of our previous investigations SDS + [bdmim][Cl]/[bdmim] [BF 4 ], as there cmc increased and N agg decreased with addition of IL [30,31]. Our N agg results re-emphasize the significant effect of IL [bdmim] [Br] in modifying the physicochemical properties of aqueous TTAB solutions.…”

“…In our previous work, we have successfully demonstrated the effect of trisubstituted imidazolium based ILs, 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium chloride [bdmim] [Cl], and 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [bdmim] [BF 4 ] in altering the micellization properties of anionic surfactant SDS in aqueous media [30,31]. Therein we have clearly shown the effect due to change in anion of IL on surfactant properties.…”
