Effect of Ultralow Doses of Antibodies to S-100 Protein in Animals with Impaired Cognitive Function and Disturbed Emotional and Neurological Status under Conditions of Experimental Alzheimer Disease

Abstract: Course administration of ultralow doses of antibodies to S-100 protein restores cognitive functions and neurological status, improves emotional state, and reduces anxiety in animals with modeled Alzheimer disease based on cholinergic system deficiency caused by subchronic treatment with scopolamine.

“…La escopolamina es un antagonista de receptores muscarínicos que imita de manera aguda la enfermedad de Alzheimer (55) . Además, se demostró que ambos extractos de maca negra inhibieron la actividad de la acetilcolinesterasa, sin modificar los niveles de monoamino oxidasa (56) .…”

“…A substantial body of animal experiments indicating that elevated levels of pro‐inflammatory cytokines are closely associated with cognitive impairment supports this hypothesis . Another molecule that has been used to predict cognitive dysfunction is S‐100β, which shows a correlation with cognitive function in patients after minor surgery, after cardiac surgery, or experimental Alzheimer's disease in animals . It is now increasingly used in the evaluation of cognitive function after traumatic brain injury …”
