“…The influence of crosslinking reaction values on the mechanical properties of PVA films is listed in Table as the dependence of Young's modulus ( E ), tensile strength and elongation at break on the degree of crosslinking with GA. The results clearly show significant reduction in E as well as tensile strength, thereby demonstrating the progress of the crosslinking reaction and action of the GA plasticizer—i.e., the formation of transverse bonds; although such decrease permits flexibility in chain mobility . Elongation at break, which is determined at the point where the film breaks under tensile stress, provides data on the flexibility and stretch capacity of the film.…”

“…For the SA film, the bands at approximately 3300 cm −1 are assigned to the stretching vibrations of the hydroxyl group, respectively [41]. The band corresponding to asymmetric stretching vibrations of the methylene group occurs at approximately 2931 cm −1 [42]. The stretching vibration of the carboxylate anion -COO − exhibits two characteristic absorption peaks at 1590 and 1411 cm −1 , corresponding to asymmetric and symmetric stretching vibration of the carboxylate group, respectively [43][44][45].…”

“…With different kinds of additives or dopants further these properties can be improved or fine-tuned [2][3][4][5]. Also, there are fair number of irradiation techniques applied to modify the properties of PVA films [6][7][8][9]. The work presented here is another method used to process PVA in view of physical and electrical properties changes.…”
