Abstract:The results of studies of the effect of coatings based on niobium nitride on the contact characteristics, thermal and stress states of the cutting wedge of a carbide tool are presented. It is shown that the use of these coatings redistributes heat flows in the cutting zone, contact temperatures and specific loads acting on the front surface of the cutting tool, which leads to an improvement in the thermal and stress state. The greatest effect is achieved when using multilayer coatings.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
