“…As can be seen, the calculated loss values of the conductor C1 are larger than the analytical values of the monoblock model in higher current range near the critical current , while they are well agree with the analytical value . The deviation in higher current range is attributed to the large loss generation in the edge part of each tape strand in the conductors, due to the magnetic flux penetration from the edge part to the center along the width direction of the tape strand [7], [9]. Since the contribution of flux penetration from the wide surface of each tape strand to the loss generation becomes negligible with decreasing the tape thickness or increasing AR value of tape cross section, the deviation of values in the conductor C2 with thin tapes from the analytical value of the monoblock model becomes more significant in the whole current range.…”
