Creative teaching is an important skill needed by teachers to carry out the teaching and learning process. Teachers have the most important role in nurturing students’ interest and creative thinking ability by implementing creative teaching. However, there are still insufficient studies that systematically review the existing literature related to what factors could affect teachers’ creative teaching. This highlights the value of this study that is aimed to conduct a systematic literature review on the factors influencing teachers’ creative teaching. This study selected articles using two leading databases, namely Scopus and Web of Science. To ensure that this study was conducted systematically, guidelines by Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic review and Meta-Analyses were used. This study found that three groups of factors influence teachers’ creative teaching, namely demographic factor, individual factor and organisational factor. There are two factors that have the highest frequency and dominant, namely self-efficacy and environment support. Keywords: Creative teaching, demographic factor, individual factor, organisational factors, teachers’, systematic review.

Psychological empowerment and employee engagement: role of job satisfaction and religiosity in Nigeria

Purpose This paper aims to examine the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between psychological empowerment and employee engagement. There is also an investigation of the moderating effect of religiosity on psychological empowerment and job satisfaction as well as job satisfaction and employee engagement. Design/methodology/approach Data were obtained from 265 employees working in the service industry in Nigeria. The hypotheses were tested and analysed using structural equation modelling and bootstrapping procedure. Findings The results show that the direct relationship between psychological empowerment and employee engagement was partially mediated by job satisfaction. Intrinsic religiosity (IR) was found to have a moderating effect on job satisfaction and employee engagement. IR and extrinsic religiosity (ER) does not moderate the impact of psychological empowerment on job satisfaction and employee engagement. ER was found to have a negative insignificant moderating effect on job satisfaction and employee engagement. Research limitations/implications A cross-sectional study reveals the relationship between variables at one point in a time. As such this study may not precisely predict the dominant pattern of the association over time. Future research can use longitudinal study to establish a dominant pattern of relationships. Practical implications This study informs human resource practitioners and scholars by demonstrating that religiosity and job satisfaction are important factors that should be considered in managing and keeping employees engaged. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is among the first atte`mpts to enrich the literature in the fields of psychological empowerment and employee engagement by highlighting organisational mechanisms that amplify the relationship.

PurposeThis paper aims to examine the relationship between workplace spirituality and employee creativity and check the mediating role of psychological empowerment on this relationship.Design/methodology/approachAn online survey developed with SurveyMonkeyTM has been shared via LinkedIn to 750 software professionals working in Indian origin. For data analysis, partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) has been used, and for testing the mediation among the variables, Preacher and Hayes (2008) method is used.FindingsThe PLS-SEM results have revealed a significant positive relationship between workplace spirituality and employee creativity. There is also a positive relationship between workplace spirituality and psychological empowerment. Preacher and Hayes (2008) mediation results have revealed that psychological empowerment partially mediates between workplace spirituality and employee creativity.Originality/valueThe present study has filled the gap, which has been not addressed till this date and may be considered to be first-of-its kind study, which directly tried to understand the association between workplace spirituality and employee creativity among employees of Indian origin.
