Effect of zinc and iron on yield and yield attributes of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.)

Abstract: The experiment was laid out with four replications and nine treatment combinations, considering three levels each of zinc (0, 25 and 50 kg ZnSO 4 ha-1) and iron (0, 25 and 50 kg FeSO 4 ha-1). The results of experiment indicated that, application of ZnSO 4 @ 50 kg ha-1 significantly increased plant height, number of leaves per plant, immature green fruit girth, immature green fruit yield, dry pod yield, stalk yield and protein content at harvest. Among different levels of iron application of 50 kg FeSO 4 ha-1 s… Show more

“…However, among foliar application, RDF + foliar spray of ZnSO 4 @ 0.5 % at 30 & 45 DAS (T 7 ) recorded the higher Zn content of 0.697 mg kg -1 . Similar line of results was reported earlier by Ghritlahare et al, (2015).…”

“…At harvest, signi cantly higher plant height was recorded under the in uences of 100 % compared to 75 % dose of fertilizer i.e.,186.95, 188.58 and 187.76 cm during the years of 2021, 2022 and in pooled analysis, respectively (Table . 3). (Sakarvadia et al, 2012) reported that better supply of N and P 2 O 5 could help plant to utilize other essential plant nutrients in more effective way.…”

“…Enhanced nitrogen rate, increases the activity of cytokinin in plant which leads to the increased cell-division and elongation resulted in higher photosynthesis better growth of plant and dry-matter production and Nucleic acids (RNA and DNA), nucleoproteins, amino acids, proteins, phospholipids, and various coenzymes all require phosphorus as a necessary component. These two elements create effective growth and greater tillers per plant resulted higher grain yield of pearlmillet was obtained (Meena & Gautam, 2005;Sakarvadia et al, 2012).…”
