“…It has been found that MgCO 3 can decompose and release carbon dioxide gas in a high‐temperature environment, which is close to the thermal degradation temperature of vinyl silicone rubber 22,23 . Meanwhile, it has been reported that the introduction of metallic oxides, such as Al 2 O 3 , ZnO, CaO, and ZrO 2 , can react with compounds produced by the oxidative degradation of polymer matrix or other fillers to form high‐temperature resistant materials, which is conducive to the enhancement on thermal insulation performance during heat treatment 24‐28 . “…Zirconia may be the main developmental direction of high temperature thermal protection materials, due to their high temperature resistance (above 2000°C), high strength and toughness, low thermal conductivity (about 2 W m −1 K −1 ), oxidation resistance and other excellent properties [16]. Mirzapour et al [17] used micron-size zirconium oxide (ZrO 2 ) to improve the thermal stability and ablation properties of asbestos fibre/phenolic composites and to reduce their final cost, and the results showed that the linear and mass ablation rates of the composites after adding 14 wt-% ZrO 2 decreased by 58% and 92%, respectively. However, the study on the use of zirconia fibre reinforced ablation resistant composites has not been reported yet.…”
