Effect on electrospun fibres by synthesis of high branching polylactic acid

Abstract: Polylactic electrospun porous fibres have been widely used in tissue engineering scaffolds. However, the application of linear polylactic is limited due to its poor hydrophilicity, which leads to phase separation and has been seldom used in porous fibre preparation. Instead, branching polylactic acts as a new effective method to prepare porous fibres because it can increase polylactic polar property and make it easy to be formulated in the following application. In the current study, we prepared an ultra-high … Show more

“…Chloroform and DCM are the most frequently used solvents. They can be used alone (24,25) or mixed with other solvents, such as ethanol (27), tetrahydrofuran (28), and dimethylformamide (29). In this study, the raw PLA can be dissolved in chloroform, DCM, or hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP).…”

“…Although many papers on the synthesis of PLLA have been published, there is a serious lack of findings focusing on the synthesis of UHMWPLLA. 13 , 21 , 23 , 24 The present literature mainly focuses on the synthesis of relatively low molecular weights (in the order of 10 3 –10 5 g/mol); while only limited works tackle the synthesis of ultrahigh molecular weight (UHMW) PLA. The common synthetic strategy to achieve high/ultrahigh molecular weights is by solid-state polymerization or by the use of multiols as initiators for the ROP catalysts resulting in highly branched PLAs.…”
