This study seeks to identify the dynamics of the role of academic advisors in universities. Review literature in the form of articles published in reputable national and international journals. The results of the study show that academic advisors have an important role for students and universities. For students, academic advisors as mentors, discussion partners, related to self-development that is useful for the future. For universities, academic advisors are a means of providing structured and academic counseling services to consumers, in this case students university. Academic advisors act as a mediator between the empirical situation and the learning process at the university. Academic advisors in an effort to maximize educational services.

The use of advisory boards in higher education has long served as a means for colleges, universities and academic units to gain support and guidance. Sport management is no stranger to this practice as the dynamic nature of the industry requires a concerted effort by academicians to improve program offerings. With this goal in mind, the paper outlines the use of students as stakeholders in their learning process through the formation of a student advisory board in sport management. This advisory board would work together with academic faculty and administration in a similar capacity as would an industry advisory board. The board would serve as a means of providing feedback on curriculum development, networking opportunities, effective teaching modalities, industry trends and other programming facets. Student advisory boards in sport management education is an application of the foundation established in the area of library sciences and from practitioner advisory boards in business and other sectors. Implementation of such an endeavor requires buy-in from faculty and administration to incorporate student voice in the educational process. The paper includes further discussion in relation to student advisory board establishment, role, membership and benefits.

Quality assurance in higher education has become a critical issue for academic organizations to foster better learning experience for students. Different accreditation and ranking agencies also highlight the need to implement different quality practices in their academic processes. Stakeholder's feedback is an important input for academic organizations to meet their quality expectations. Forming an advisory team for academic programs representing all stakeholders can be a good tool to bridge the weaknesses of academic programs as well as improving the perception of stakeholders. Therefore, it is important that such advisory meetings should be well planned to reap all the desired benefits. In this chapter we present a case study of practices adopted to convene advisory meeting in an ABET accredited information system program in Saudi Arabia. Based on our experience, we present a framework to optimally schedule the advisory meetings for academic programs. This framework can help other academic institutions to optimize the benefits of advisory meetings.
