Effective Assessments of a Short-Duration Poor Posture on Upper Limb Muscle Fatigue Before Physical Exercise

Abstract: A forward head and rounded shoulder posture is a poor posture that is widely seen in everyday life. It is known that sitting in such a poor posture with long hours will bring health issues such as muscle pain. However, it is not known whether sitting in this poor posture for a short period of time will affect human activities. This paper investigates the effects of a short-duration poor posture before some typical physical activities such as push-ups. The experiments are set up as follows. Fourteen male subjec… Show more

“…19 An upright position is a correct position in sitting. 18 Large angle of about 20° view flexion of the craniovertebral joint (Cranio vertebra) is the most efficient position. In comparison, the angle of view of craniovertebral joint flexion of 0°, 40°, and 60° shows altered muscle activation patterns, such as joint instability caused by weakness of the ligament capsule and delayed onset of postural muscle.…”

“…16, 17 The recline position at an angle of 135° reduces discus pressure by about 25%. 18 The bent position, when the neck or trunk is bent, makes the moment of extension necessary to maintain posture, and the spinal extensor needs to be activated.…”

“…To verify the robustness of the proposed WM method, standard statistical tests were used to compare the prediction errors. Prior to the statistical analysis, the Shapiro-Wilk test was applied to check the data normality [37]. The significant value was set as 0.05.…”

“…The condition in which lower back characterized by tight hip flexors muscles and lumbar back muscle and gluteus maximus weak around the pelvis and make S shaped posture of the lower back.. Deviation is seen due to increased lordosis and slight change in Centre of gravity which lead to change in pelvis alignment 2 . Poor posture is commonly seen in daily life situation 3 which develop many health risks including low back pain and musculoskeletal problems commonly 4 . Spinal misalignment impact on muscle strength , ranges caused localized muscle spasm and impair physical abilities 5 .…”
