Effectiveness of a transdiagnostic indicated preventive intervention for adolescents at high risk for anxiety and depressive disorders

Luis-Joaquin Garcia-Lopez,
David Jimenez-Vazquez,
Jose-Antonio Muela-Martinez
et al.

Abstract: Despite ample evidence for transdiagnostic interventions in clinical populations and in universal prevention approaches, there are only a few controlled trials examining their role for indicated prevention. “…The modules of the EMPATIA-program are dedicated to six transdiagnostic mechanisms. To target these transdiagnostic mechanisms cognitive-behavioral interventions are applied that have already proven to be effective in adolescents or young adults [94,[110][111][112][113][114][115][116][117]. Additional information is provided on topics of special interest in adolescence, such as sleep, sexuality, or bullying.…”

“…Ehrenreich-May et al (2018) developed the Unified Protocol for the Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders in Adolescents (UP-A), maintaining an emphasis on common factors related to the etiology and treatment of these disorders (McEvoy et al, 2009). UP-A has proven to be effective for the treatment of clinical disorders associated with anxiety and depression in young people as well as for universal and indicated prevention (Ehrenreich-May & Kennedy, 2021; Jiménez-Vázquez et al, in press; Garcia-Lopez et al, 2023; García-Escalera et al, 2020; Ghandour et al, 2019; Kishida et al, 2023; Vivas-Fernandez et al, in press).…”
