Differentiated instruction is modifying teaching to suit one, small group, or all learners. There are two ways to classify students into differentiated classes. The first one is grouping students by mixed-ability schoolrooms, and the other is to split by streaming. This qualitative exploratory study explored the advantages and challenges of differentiated instruction by streaming in the UAE. The authors aim to search the benefits and disadvantages of streaming in the UAE context because the UAE applied splitting instead of mixed-ability classrooms. Twelve cycle two English teachers, and 20 cycle two EFL students, from four different schools, which are applying differentiated instruction by streaming, participated in a semi-structured interview to answer the questions of the study based on a convenience sampling. The study indicated that streaming helps all students' proficiency levels. The above-average students benefit the most from streaming, and some profound benefits were suggested for the below-average students. The most apparent advantages were having equal opportunity for participation among all the three levels, having better achievement grades, and the increase of independent learning. However, the disadvantages suggested by the respondents were the use of native language, classroom interruption, having negative behavioral issues, and labeling the below-average as weak students.

This study aims to develop a jigsaw cooperative learning-oriented learning tool, then see its impact on the process and student learning outcomes of biology. The development adopts the Morrison, Ross, & Kemp (2010) model, which consists of nine stages and ends with field trials to produce teaching materials, teacher guides, lesson plans, LKPD, and test questions. Trial I was carried out on grade X MA Darun Najah Duman, to produce draft 1 learning tools and validate research instruments. Trial II on students of MA Putri NW Narmada. Measured aspects of the learning process include: observing the ability of teachers to apply learning tools, teacher and student activities, student cooperative skills, and capturing student responses with questionnaires. Learning outcomes are shown from the final test score. Testing using a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data from observations and questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics and test score data were analyzed using the t one-sample test statistic using SPSS 16.0 for Windows. The results showed that the tools developed were able to be applied by teachers, increased teacher and student activities, encouraged students to do positive activities in learning, and accustomed students to cooperative skills. Students are happy with learning, so that learning that applies a jigsaw cooperative learning model-oriented device has a significant effect on the achievement of the minimum completeness criteria of students (μ = 78, μ0 = 67, t = 6,800, p = .000 <.005) The learning tools developed are suitable for use in biology learning at madrasah aliyah in Islamic boarding schools.

The aim of this research is to evaluate the process of primary school teachers to gain problem solving skills to students in science lesson. This research was carried out with the participation of 34 primary school teachers in Bandırma district of Balıkesir. One of the non-probability sampling methods, easy to reach case sampling, was used in determining the classroom teachers participating in the research. The research was designed according to the special case study, which is one of the qualitative research designs. In this research, semi-structured interview form was used to obtain the data. In the research, content analysis was used in the analysis process of the data obtained from the interview form. As a result of this research; the steps most frequently used by primary school teachers in the problem solving process; defining the problem, collecting information, generating temporary solutions, applying the most appropriate solution; The most common activities used by primary school teachers to improve students' problem solving skills is experimental activity and project assignment; the most frequently used seating arrangement primary school teachers in order to improve students' problem solving skills are cluster arragement and U-class seating arragement; It was determined that the most frequently used models and methods of primary school teachers to improve students' problem solving skills are experimental method and problem based learning model. Based on these results; With in-service trainings, it has been suggested that primary school teachers develop their skills in preparing activities to improve students' problem solving skills.
