Effects of 1-Naphthaleneacetic Acid on the Panicle and Fruit Characteristics of ‘Irwin’ Mango Trees

Sun Woo Chung,
Yeon Jin Jang,
Chan Kyu Lim
et al.

Abstract: Excessive vegetative growth of mangoes inhibits reproductive growth during greenhouse cultivation, resulting in a loss of fruit production. To investigate the effect of a 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) treatment, two concentrations (30 and 70 mg•L -1 ) were applied to the shoot apices of 'Irwin' mango cultivars. With changes in greenhouse temperatures, the characteristics of the reproductive organs were determined at BBCH (Biologische, Bundesanstalt, Bundessortenamt, and Chemische Industrie) scales of 615 and … Show more

“…'Irwin', the optimum maturity stage for harvesting has been practically assessed (imprecisely) to be 16-17 weeks (110-120 days) after blooming. Generally, flower bud differentiation begins in 'Irwin' mangoes trees from November to December and flowering begins in early to mid-January (Chung et al, 2023). The 'Irwin' cultivar is commonly known as an early maturing variety as it is commonly harvested in early June, around June 8 th to June 10 th (Lim et al, 2016).…”
