Abstract: Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are frequently hospitalized for heart failure. The ratio of early diastolic mitral inflow velocity to early diastolic mitral annulus velocity (E/e’), measured by echocardiography, is a simple and convenient indicator of diastolic dysfunction.
