Effects of Active Components of Fuzi and Gancao Compatibility on Bax, Bcl‐2, and Caspase‐3 in Chronic Heart Failure Rats

Abstract: Hypaconitine (HA) and glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) are active components of Fuzi (Aconitum carmichaelii) and Gancao (Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch); they have been used in compatibility for chronic heart failure (CHF) from ancient times. The purpose of the present research was to explore whether apoptosis pathways were related with the protective effects of HA + GA against CHF rats or not. The rats were progressed with transverse-aortic constriction (TAC) operation for 4 weeks to build the CHF state, and then the Di… Show more

“…AR plays an important role in the carcinogenesis and progress of prostate cancer; increased levels of AR expression predict the metastatic progression of prostate cancer4647. Bcl-2 was the upstream protein of caspase3, and they are most relevant to cell apoptosis, and Caspase-3 is the major enzyme cleavage effector in the process of cell apoptosis and Bcl-2 is the main anti-apoptotic agent and the anti-oxidative protein is an inhibitor of cell apoptosis48. Both Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 play an important role in signal transduction of cell apoptosis49.…”

“…Akt is the central link of this pathway, being not only the direct target of the downstream, but also the most important target protein, which has protective effects on myocardial tissue damage induced by various factors [30]. Caspase-3 is the key executor and effector in the process of apoptosis, plays an important role in inducing apoptosis of cardiomyocytes, and has gradually become a potential target for antiapoptotic therapy [31]. e process of cardiomyocyte apoptosis involves very complex molecular biological mechanisms.…”

“…21,22 Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata) is proven to have cardiotonic action and reverse the dysfunction in CHF processing. 23,24 Although the pharmacological mechanisms underlying the actions of Gua Lou Shi (FructusTrichosanthis), Sang Bai Pi (Cortex Mori), and Tinɡ Li Zi (Semen Lepidii) remain unclear, their functions in dealing with phlegm retention are abundantly documented in the "Compendium of Materia Medica" (BencaoGangmu), an ancient TCM herbal text book.…”
