Effects of Al Addition on Structures and Protium Absorption-Desorption Properties of Ti-Cr Alloys

Abstract: The effects of Al addition on structures and protium absorption-desorption properties of Ti-Cr alloys were investigated. It was found that 1 at% Al addition is effective for improvement of protium storage capacity. The BCC phase increases with increasing Al content in TiCr-Al alloys. It is generally well known that plateau pressure of the protium storage alloys, e.g. Ti-Cr-V and Ti-Fe-V alloys, increases with decreasing lattice constants, however, the plateau pressure of the Ti-Cr-Al alloys increases with incr… Show more

“…The gamma ray burst GRB 021004 was discovered by HETE at 12:06 UT on 4 October 2002 (Shirasaki et al 2002). Observations beginning less than 10 minutes after the burst revealed a bright fading source (Fox 2002) located at α 2000 = 00 h 26 m 54. s 7, δ 2000 = +18 • 55 ′ 42 ′′ (Henden & Levine 2002a).…”

“…Ti-Cr-V alloys with a BCC structure are regarded as one of the candidates for hydrogen storage tanks. 1) Since the Ti-Cr-V alloys show the capacity of nearly 3 mass% at 373 K, a lot of works, such as the additions of other elements, 2-7) the effects of heat-treatment and composition, [8][9][10][11][12] V free Ti-Cr alloys, [13][14][15][16] cyclic properties [17][18][19] and the effects on hysteresis, 20) have been reported in improving the properties. Ti-Cr-V alloys absorb protium up to H/M = 2 (about 3.7 mass% of protium), but desorb about 2.4 mass% from the viewpoint of protium desorption capacity (9-0.01 MPa) through forming stable protides in low hydrogen pressure regions.…”
