“…They found that ethanol shows much stronger adsorption onto the (001) plane, which depressed the growth rate along the [001] direction, and the rectangular shape was formed. Recently, Wu and Tai (2013) investigated the solvent effects on the crystallization of anatase nanoparticles using eight different alcohols. The results showed that the solvent properties, such as the dielectric constant and boiling point, were considered in terms of their correlation to the crystallite size and shape.…”

“…Since the machine for microwave synthesis has constraint on the reaction temperature and process pressure, we chose 210°C as the reaction temperature that does not approach the limit of the synthesis tool. It has been found that the crystalline growth of TiO 2 in microwave synthesis is mainly dominated by thermodynamic control rather than kinetics (Wilson et al, 2006;Wu and Tai, 2013). The hydrothermal time has minor influence on the particle size within 180 min once the reaction is complete.…”

“…Since then, to ameliorate the preparation of TiO 2 using microwave-assisted method, studies using microwave-assisted synthesis have been conducted for the preparation of TiO 2 crystal (Ding et al, 2007;Hart et al, 2004;Li et al, 2009;Periyat et al, 2010;Ribbens et al, 2008;Wilson et al, 2006;Wu and Tai, 2013;Zhang et al, 2009;Zumeta et al, 2009). The microwave-assisted method is an efficient alternative as it allows swift heating to the set temperature and extremely rapid crystallization, leading to the simplification of the preparation procedure (Baghbanzadeh et al, 2011;Baldassari et al, 2005;Bilecka and Niederberger, 2010;Niederberger, 2013).…”

“…TiO 2 nanoparticles (TN), with particle size in the range 15–30 nm and anatase structure, were prepared using a modified process analogous to the procedure reported previously . The synthesis process was a combination of sol‐gel and hydrothermal methods.…”
