Abstract:Ultrafine-grained Al samples were fabricated by spark plasma sintering (SPS) of a mechanically milled nanocrystalline powder. The effects of annealing and extrusion on the microstructure and tensile properties of the as-SPSed samples were investigated. Annealing removed the nanopores and caused significant coarsening of Al grains in the interparticle boundary (IPB) regions, leading to the formation of a heterogeneous structure consisting of coarse grains, ultrafine grains and Al 4 C 3 /Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles. … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
