“…Cd had deleterious effects on both egg production and egg quality. In agreement with previous results (Rafieian‐Naeini et al, 2021), exposure to Cd negatively impacted both egg production and mortality following acute induction of oxidative stress from Cd exposure. In addition to these results in egg production and mortality, the current experiment reports undesirable outcomes in egg quality indices (eggshell thickness, egg mass, egg shape, egg yolk colour, Haugh units, yolk pH, albumen pH, yolk colour, Haugh unit), FCR and histological changes in hepatic tissue as a result of Cd exposure.…”

“…Probably, the quality of the fertilizing eggs has more impact on lowering mortality rate. In this regard, there are evidences showing that transferring some antioxidant such as canthaxanthin and Coenzyme Q10 from avian diet improved egg and hatchelling quality ( Zhang et al, 2011 ; Rafieian-Naeini et al, 2021 ). It is worth noting that the mortality rate recorded in this study was in normal to low range, and the 3 to 6 records for mortal embryos is not adequate frequency to find significant difference in binary distributed data.…”

“…The quails were housed in 50 × 60 cm cages with an ambient temperature of 24 ± 2°C and a ventilation rate of 540 m 3 /h. The quails were on a 16L:8D lighting schedule at an intensity of 10 lux (Rafieian‐Naeini et al., 2021 ) and were fed a basal diet (30 g, every day) formulated to meet their nutritional requirements (NRC, 1994 ; Table 1 ) along with free access to nipple drinking system and freshwater. Treatments included dietary supplementation of a commercial acidifier (PROCID, Towhid Darou Pars Co.) at 0, 1, 2 and 3 gr acidifier/kg of diet (Tugnoli et al., 2020 ).…”
