Effects of Collagen Grafting on Cell Behaviors in BCP Scaffold with Interconnected Pore Structure

Abstract: BackgroundThis study was to investigate the effect of collagen grafted porous biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) on cell attachment, proliferation, and differentiation. Porous BCP scaffolds with interconnected micropore structure were prepared with were prepared and then grafted with a collagen type I. The hydroxyapatite (HA) and β-tricalcium phosphate (TCP) ratio of the TCP scaffolds was about 60/40 and the collagen was crosslinked on the TCP scaffold surface (collagen-TCP).ResultsThe sintered BCP scaffolds sho… Show more

“…Moreover, it exhibited the biocompatible property without the inflammation in vivo, similar to the experimental in vivo findings of the previous studies using BCP. 9,19 In micro-CT analysis, it is hard to distinguish the grayscale values of fibrovascular connective tissue, new bone, old bone and graft materials. Micro-CT analysis was performed to grossly determine the tendency of new bone formation and total volume rather than to analyze the precise volume of new bone and graft materials.…”

“…2f). Cells on PbP commenced growth in the form of colonies shortly after seeding, while on the commercially available TCP ceramics Cerasorb® M (Curasan) [19-21], cells proliferated in a dispersed manner. The results of these initial tests prompted us to primarily test scaffold material with high porosity, which in due course of the experimental evaluation was also selected for in vivo experimentation.…”

“…Достаточно часто применяется двухфазный фосфат кальция, состоящий из смеси β-ТКФ и ГА. Биологическая активность и резорбция двухфазной керамики могут регулироваться путем изменения процентного соотношения частиц ГА и β-ТКФ [23,38]. Отмечается также, что применение двухфазной керамики с разными соотношениями ГА/β-ТКФ больше способствует образованию костной ткани, чем применение ее компонентов по отдельности [38].…”
