“…found an improvement in the growth performance of birds fed 150 g kg −1 wheat DDGS (wDDGS) along with a cocktail of carbohydrases. Liu et al . also demonstrated a beneficial impact of exogenous xylanase supplementation of broiler diets containing DDGS on nutrient digestibility.…”

“…However, Metayer et al 7 found an improvement in the growth performance of birds fed 150 g kg −1 wheat DDGS (wDDGS) along with a cocktail of carbohydrases. Liu et al 8 also demonstrated a beneficial impact of exogenous xylanase supplementation of broiler diets containing DDGS on nutrient digestibility. The actual effects of DDGS inclusion on digestive function have not been extensively evaluated, and the reason for the poor performance caused by high levels of DDGS inclusion remains unclear.…”

“…Enzymatic treatment with cellulase, pectinase or hemicellulase can hydrolyze and degrade or decompose the cell wall of plants and facilitate the release of intracellular contents, and has been used in thefood industry, juice processing and so on (Choudhari & Ananthanarayan ; Puri et al ). Enzymatic soybean meal (Wang et al ) or corn distillers dried grains with solubles (Liu et al ) improved the growth performance of broilers. However, little is known about the effects of enzymatically treated herbs on farm animals, including poultry, let alone broilers reared under heat stress.…”

“…Recently, Barekatain et al (2011) showed significant improvement in FCE of broiler chickens fed 300 g/kg sorghum DDGS as a result of xylanase supplementation. Similarly, results of an experiment conducted by Liu et al (2011) with broilers demonstrated that xylanase addition to a diet containing corn DDGS could increase hemicellulose and dry matter digestibility by 5 and 20 %, respectively. Furthermore, the combination of exogenous enzymes such as xylanase, amylase, protease and phytase could have a sub-additive effect in growth performance of birds, as has been shown by Olukosi et al (2010).…”
