Effects of crop residue managements and tillage practices on variations of soil penetration resistance in sloping farmland of Mollisols

Abstract: Soil penetration resistance (SPR) is one of the major indicators of soil physical properties. Crop residue managements, tillage practices and their interactions exert significant effects on the SPR. However, rare information is available in the sloping farmland of Mollisols. Field experiments were conducted to investigate the variations of the SPR as affected by crop residue managements and tillage practices on the sloping land in Northeast China from 2015 to 2019. The split-plot experiment was arranged with t… Show more

“…The seedlings' distribution was more uniform at a lower inclination angle (<6 • ) and seedling uniformity required further investigation to improve seed-filling and seeding performance. Larger inclination angles are known to markedly decrease the seeding performance and seedling distribution uniformity [7,29].…”

“…There have been a number of studies evaluating how different surface coverings reduce surface runoff and soil loss, including rock fragments [54][55][56][57][58], biological geotextiles [30], and crop residues [59][60][61][62][63][64][65][66], grass [67][68][69], geo-textiles [30,70], post-fire ash and cover [71][72][73], tillage [64,66,74,75], and combined cover such as rock and litter [76][77][78][79]. However, little leaf litter has been tested [42,80], with varying results [81].…”
