Abstract:In this paper, we incorporate the dispersal of one species between two patches into a two-species competition model. The dispersal process is assumed to involve time delay and population loss. We show that the dispersal rate and the loss during the dispersal jointly affect the stability and instability of model equilibria and induce the phenomena of multi-stability and transient coexistence of both competing species in both patches.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
