In the rat, renal PGE-9-ketoreductase activity was enhanced with oestradiol treatment and progesterone antagonized this effect (Cagen & Baer, 1987). PGE-9-ketoreductase activity in the ovary has been reported (Watson et al, 1979) but the hormonal regulation and functional role of this enzyme in follicular development and ovulation have not been determined.…”
