Abstract:During pregnancy, marked changes in vasculature occur. The placenta is developed, and uteroplacental and fetoplacental circulations are established. These processes may be negatively affected by genetic anomalies, maternal environment (i.e., obesity or diabetes), and environmental conditions such as pollutants and hypoxia.
