Abstract: Background Inhalation of the bacterial peptide N-formyl-methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine (FMLP) produces bronchoconstriction in normal subjects. FMLP thus has a putative role as a mediator of bronchoconstriction associated with bacterial bronchial infection.
