Effects of Injection Strategies on Mixture Formation and Combustion in a Spark-Ignition Engine Fueled with Syngas-Biogas-Hydrogen

Abstract: The paper presents the effects of blend injection and dual injection strategies on mixture formation and combustion of syngas-biogas-hydrogen fueling engine working in the solar-biomass hybrid renewable energy system. The research was performed by simulation method on a retrofitted Honda GX200 spark-ignition engine. The results show that at the end of the compression process, in the case of blend injection of 50% syngas-50% biogas, the fuel-rich zone was positioned on the top of the combustion chamber, whereas… Show more

“…Through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the mitigation of waste disposal issues, its production advances the circular economy (Hoang et al, 2022a;Kapoor et al, 2020). Collectively, these biofuels provide a substantial contribution to the creation of renewable energy sources and the lessening of environmental harmful impacts (Nguyen-Thi and Bui, 2023;Yilmaz, 2012;Yuvenda et al, 2022).…”

“…All of the existing major shipping fuels are hydrocarbons. The H2/carbon ratio is considered to be an important factor since a greater proportion can lead to a fuel that is more energy-efficient and discharges fewer CO2 emissions [122], [123]. Thus, H2 or H2 carriers could become a zero-emission alternative for future transport [124]- [126].…”

“…Besides, the oxy-hydrogen injection strategies are less attention to be studied, hence the extended discussion on this topic is limited. Several studies about gaseous fuel injection strategy found that it also impacts engine performance and emissions improvements Nguyen-Thi & Bui, 2023;Zaman et al, 2019). However, the oxyhydrogen injection strategy such as modifying the injector diameter on dual-fuel engines also possibly affects the engine performance and emissions.…”
