Land use/cover change (LUCC) from increased urbanization significantly impacts regional ecosystem services. Based on a cold/hot spots analysis, this paper used grain yield, food prices, price index statistics, and a land use thematic map to study the impact of LUCC on four ecosystem services values (ESVs) in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, and determine the spatial differences resulting from the rapid urbanization LUCC. The correlation between the four ecosystem services was then studied and sensitivity analyses conducted to investigate whether any changes in the ESVs could lead to unacceptable unit value transfer uncertainties. It was found that most urban land was converted from farmland, and that before 2000, the total ESVs and the regulating services values (RSVs) increased significantly, after which it declined, the provisioning services values (PSVs) declined year on year, the habitat services value (HSV) and cultural and amenity services value (CSV) declined sharply after 2000, and the spatial distribution of the four ESVs were significantly different. Over time, it was found that the hot spots were shrinking and the cold spots were spreading. The provisioning services were found to be negatively correlated with habitat services and cultural and amenity services, the regulating services were weakly positively correlated with the provisioning services and significantly positively correlated with the habitat services and cultural and amenity services, and the habitat services were significantly positively correlated with cultural and amenity services. In the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, the water area is the most important for the total ESVs, followed by non-bush forest. Paddy field is ranked third. Dryland, bush, grassland, and wetland are less important. The importance of barren land is almost zero. This research provides the government with a scientific basis from which to formulate spatial planning and environmental protection policies for ecological sustainable development in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.

Land use and land cover change (LULCC) by unplanned and uncontrolled urban expansion have a significant effect on ecosystem service values (ESVs). Objectives of the study were (1) to extract LULC status and its change between 2006 and 2016; (2) to predict two different LULC scenarios in 2026 and; (3) to assess LULCC impact on ESVs. Herein, Landsat imageries in 2006, 2011 and 2016 were used to classify LULC types by object-based image analysis (OBIA) and the derived results were applied to predict LULC in 2026 of two scenarios by CLUE-S model and to assess the impact of LULCC on ESVs. Results revealed that paddy field and field crop notably decreased while urban and built-up areas and rangeland dramatically increased over the study periods whereas total ESVs declined from about 145 MM USD in 2006 to 132 MM USD in 2026 of Scenario II and the ESVs of three dominant ecosystem service functions (waste treatment, water supply, and climate regulation) continuously decreased. The impact of LULCC on ESVs remarkably differed among the LULC types. In conclusion, land use and city planners should try to minimize the effect of LULCC on ESVs during the planning process. Xishuangbanna in the southwestern border of China is located in the upper 18 reaches of the Mekong River between the Indo-China Peninsula and the East Asian 19 continent. It is the largest tropical rain forest and monsoon forest in China. They have 20 an irreplaceable ecological service function and are an important barrier to 21 maintaining the ecological security of the Mekong River transboundary basin of the 22 Lancang River. Based on three sets of remote sensing data (1996, 2003, 2010 and 23 2016), this study has made an exploration on spatio-temporal changes of 24 Xishuangbanna, and also made an assessment on different ecosystem values of six 25 types of ecosystem in Xishuangbanna based on related theories of ecological 26 economics. Results showed that the values of Xishuangbanna ecosystem services in 27 1996, 2003, 2010, and 2016 were 70.4014billion yuan, 70.2115 billion yuan, 68.5129 28 billion yuan and 63.6098 billion yuan, respectively. The total value shows a 29 continuous decreasing trend, reflecting the continuous decline in the ability of the 30 Xishuangbanna ecosystem to provide services to humans.If divided by ecosystem 31 types, forest and rubber were two types that have the greatest proportion of service 32 values. In the perspective of service types, soil formation and protection account for 33 the largest proportion, followed by gas regulation and biodiversity 34 protection. Studying Xishuangbanna's ecosystem service values is helpful to explore 35 the sustainable development of resources and economy.36
