Due to the growing expense of fossil fuels and other environmental issues, it is crucial to reduce the energy cost of built environment cooling systems without sacrificing indoor air quality and comfort levels. One option in this area is solid desiccant dehumidification-assisted cooling systems, which employ alternative energy sources like solar and biomass and are also environmentally beneficial by the minimal requirement of refrigerants. The present review discusses the performance analysis of different solid desiccants readily accessible on the market and their composites. Better moisture absorption and a lower regeneration temperature are qualities of a better desiccant. The review also discusses the various solid desiccant dehumidifier designs, their benefits, and their disadvantages. Solid desiccant dehumidifiers now come in various combinations, considerably enhancing system performance. The exergy efficiency of desiccant-integrated evaporative cooling is up to 21.5%, comparable with another HVAC system. A summary of the performance parameters has also been created to assess system performance further. This study will benefit innovation and advancement in solid desiccant materials in the air conditioning market.

Nowadays, researchers are very interested in improving the stability and solubility of blending diesel fuel with a high percentage of ethanol. As a result, the goal of this paper was to find a way to use the surfactant of Tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) substance to blend ethanol with diesel fuel to a level of 40%. Diesel fuel is mixed with ethanol in volumetric proportions of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, as well as a tiny amount of TBP from 1 to 4%. The prepared blends were the subject of an experiment evaluation by fueling a direct injection diesel engine. This engine is a water-cooled, commercial diesel engine, single cylinder, and four-stroke with 12 kW maximum power. The four blends were evaluated as clean fuel mixtures of 10% ethanol/90% diesel/1% TBP, 20% ethanol/80% diesel/2% TBP, 30% ethanol/70% diesel/3% TBP, and 40% ethanol/60% diesel/4% TBP. As the starting fuel, we used 100% diesel to compare the results. The engine’s output and emissions have been measured at various engine loads and constant speeds of 1500 rpm. According to the data gathered, even when the percentage of ethanol was increased to 40%, neither the base fuel nor the engine BTE changed significantly. The engine exhaust gas temperature was found to decrease slightly when the proportion of ethanol was increased. When bioethanol is increased to 40% of the base volume, it causes an increase in the combustion of unburned hydrocarbons and CO emissions. However, when the percentage of ethanol was increased from 100% diesel to the base fuel to 40%, CO2 emissions decreased, and O2 emissions slightly increased.

Fossil resources are largely used for energy supply. This situation causes environ?mental pollution. In recent years, studies in the field of more environmentally friend?ly and sustainable energy conversion technologies have increased. In this context, organic Rankine cycle (ORC) technology is combined with RES. In this study, combined ORC and vapor compression cycle (VCC) were investigated. The electricity produced in the combined ORC-VCC system was used both in the compressor of the VCC system and in the plant. The main factor affecting the efficiency of the combined ORC-VCC system is the refrigerant. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the selection of the most suitable refrigerant for an ORC-VCC based system. Fifteen different refrigerants were optimized with the enginering equation solver program, and energy and exergy analyzes of the systems were made separately. According to the results, the best energy efficiency and COP values among the refrigerants was found to be R40 (?ORC = 0.1206) for the ORC system and R113 (COP = 4.405) for the VCC system. For all system components in the VCC, the most exergy destruction occurs in the evaporator, followed by the compressor, condenser, and throttle, respectively. In ORC, the most exergy destruction is in the evaporator, followed by the condenser, tube and pump, respectively. The total efficiency was found to be (? = 0.53) for the combined ORC-VCC system. The total exergetic efficiency was found to be (?glob = 0.26) for the combined ORC-VCC system.
