Dynamic Characteristics Research on Power System of a Four-Valve of Compressed Air Engine

To alleviate air pollution and eliminate pollutants from internal combustion engines, many researchers have paid more attention to compressed air engines (CAEs). However, the low energy utilization efficiency and low output power of a CAE hinder its development. In this paper, a new kind of CAE, which has four valves is proposed, which reduces the kinetic energy of the flowing air. Through analysis of the CAEs, a mathematical model of the working processes was developed. Using the simulation method, the performance of the new kind of CAE was obtained. To verify the theoretical model, a prototype of a four-valve of single cylinder piston type CAE was designed, and the experiment was carried out. Parameter influence analysis and optimization were studied to improve the four-valve CAE performance. Results show that, first, the output torque and output power of the four-valves of CAE are higher than of the two-valves of CAE. When the intake pressure is set at 0.6 MPa and 0.7 MPa, and the rotation speed is 450 rpm, the output torque of the four-valve of CAE is about 2.7 and 2.2 times that of the twovalve of CAE. The output torque and power differences between the two kinds of CAE ascend sharply with increased rotation speed. Second, the energy efficiency and output power are impacted significantly by the intake valve close angle and exhaust passage diameter. Thirdly, the optimization of the four-valve CAE can significantly enhance the output power compared with two-valve CAE. This research can be referred to in the design of the CAEs.

The paper proposes a new double-stage large flow protection relief valve based on the double-stage linkage structure, to solve the problem that when it is impacted by the top plate, the traditional hydraulic support protective relief valve has smaller overflow and lower sensitivity, which causes the column circuit to be damaged. The flow field characteristics of double-stage protective relief valve are numerically simulated by the computational fluid dynamics method and semi-implicit connection pressure equation calculation model. Then the dynamic characteristics of the flow field distribution of the double-stage protective relief valve are obtained. According to the law of fluid flow, the structure of main valve core is optimized for the negative pressure, cavitation and vortex area. The flow field characteristics of the optimized double-stage protection valve are simulated and analyzed. In the end, the flow field characteristics of optimized double-stage protective relief valve are compared with the original. The results show that the negative pressure value of double-stage protective relief valve is reduced by 15%, and the outlet velocity of double-stage protective relief valve is reduced by 21% compared to the unoptimized when the main core is fully opened. The research results provide reference for the evolution design of high-flow, impact-resistant hydraulic support safety valve structure.

As the key control component of the water hydraulic systems, the water hydraulic proportional valve has a significant influence on the control performance of the systems. Due to the poor viscosity and lubricity of water, the valve spool resistance is large and non-linear. In this study, a novel fast-response water hydraulic proportional valve is presented. The actuator of the valve adopts a voice coil motor (VCM), which has the advantages of fast response, high control precision and small volume. In order to realize the fast control of the valve, a lever amplifier is designed to obtain enough actuation force. A detailed and precise non-linear mathematical model of the valve considering both the valve’s structural parameters and VCM electromagnetic characteristics is developed. A comprehensive performance simulation analysis has been carried out, mainly divided into an electromagnetic simulation, an analysis of the characteristics of the lever magnifier, and a dynamic performance simulation of the valve. The simulation results show that the adjusting time is about 28ms, and the maximum overshoot is about 5 %. The step response rise time is about 15 ms. The test rig of the valve and VCM have been built. The test results of the prototype show that the optimal stroke range of VCM is 4 mm to 15 mm. The maximum overshoot of the valve is around 10 %; the adjusting time is about 30 ms in the opening process and 35 ms in the closing process. The test results prove that the valve has good static and dynamic control performance.
