“…Therefore; Accumulation=influxed cholesterol-(outfluxed cholesterol+excreted cholesteterol as neutral sterols and bile acids) The increase of hepatic cholesterol by anabolic steroid is due to the fact that the former (influxed cholesterol) exceeds the latter (outfluxed cholesterol plus degradated cholesterol). It was suggested that the shift of cholesterol from plasma to liver was accelerated in estrogen treated rats but that the rate of degradation of cholesterol to bile acids was not significantly different from that found in the untreated rats (Boyd, 1963;Nakamura et al, 1968). When cholesterol is transferred to the liver too much to be degradated by the liver as in high cholesterol ingestion, the excessive amount of cholesterol has to be deposited in the tissue.…”
