Effects of organic additives on the microstructural, rheological and electrical properties of silver paste for LTCC applications

Abstract: Zinc(II) phthalocyanine (Zn(II)Pc) molecule was the rst time prepared onto three different substrates utilizing Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) deposition technique to investigate its vapor sensing abilities and some optical properties. We utilized ve different and well-known techniques to control monolayer quality of Zn(II)Pc LB lm. The obtained the thickness and refractive index values for Zn(II)Pc LB lm with coated at different layers vary from 3.2 to 10.9 nm and from 1.42 to 1.71, respectively. The sensing properti… Show more

“…Besides, the viscosities of organic vehicles obviously increase with the increase of EC content, and the viscosity of organic vehicles with different solvent ratios is almost the same. As an important rheological parameter to assess pseudoplasticity, thixotropy index is usually defined as the ratio of viscosity measured at low shear rate such as 0.2 s −1 to that measured at a high shear rate such as 2 s −1 [ 29 ]. As shown in Figure 3 , the thixotropy index of organic vehicles with a solvent ratio of 5:2:3 is higher than others.…”

“…They are 2.820, 3.336, 3.133, and 3.376 for pastes with solvent ratio of (7:2:1), (5:3:2), (6:2:2), and (5:2:3), respectively. Those different thixotropic parameters may attribute to the different inner network strength formed by the intermolecular force, especially hydrogen bond between powders and binders with different solvent ratios [ 29 , 30 , 31 ]. In particular, the thixotropic parameter of paste with the solvent ratio of 5:2:3 is the largest, which further proves that the solvent with α -terpineol:BCA:DBP = 5:2:3 ratio is more suitable for the preparation of silver paste for screen-printing.…”

“…Complexity of dispensing processes. This overview illustrates different influencing factors on printed electrodes and their functionality [9,10,14,16,64,65] classified into six categories -I) printing pastes and their compositions, [13,23,[25][26][27]33,34,37,49,50,[66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73][74][75][76] II) substrates, III) print heads, [18][19][20][21][22][23]77] IV) nozzles, [15,18] V) printing machines, and VI) process parameters. [23,25,78] The list of influencing factors is created based on some articles and the authors' hands-on laboratory experiences and may be incomplete.…”
