Effects of Power Quality Distortions on Electrical Drives and Transformer Life in Paper Industries: Simulations and Real Time Measurements

Abstract: With the increasing of non-linear loads in results show that voltage sag affects the functionality of electric power system, power quality distortion has adjustable speed drives [4]. Therefore, a good power quality become a serious issue in recent years. In paper and pulp monitoring system is essential for the paper mills in order to industries, due to presence of concentrated high power decrease the downtime and increase the efficiency. Although, non-linear loads such as electric drives, this problem is a ele… Show more

“…A part of eddy current loss which is produced in structural parts of transformers (except in the windings) is called other stray loss [7,10]. Many factors such as size of core, class of voltage of transformer and construction of materials used to build tank and clamps [11]. To determine the effect of frequency on the value of other stray loss, different tests have been fulfilled.…”

“…The load loss or impedance loss is subdivide into I 2 R loss and stray loss caused by electromagnetic flux in the winding, core, core clamps, magnetic shield, enclosure or tanks walls, etc [3,8]. Thus, the total stray loss is subdivided into winding stray loss and stray loss in components other than the windings ).…”

“…The most important source of voltage and current harmonics in electrical networks are nonlinear loads. Nonlinear loads, which were only fifteen percent of total loads in 1987, have been increased to seventy percent in 2000 [7]. So, ever-increasing of nonlinear load causes inordinate increase of harmonics in network.…”
