Effects of Pressure Gradient on Convective Heat Transfer in a Boundary Layer Flow of a Maxwell Fluid Past a Stretching Sheet

Abstract: The pressure gradient term plays a vital role in convective heat transfer in the boundary layer flow of a Maxwell fluid over a stretching sheet. The importance of the effects of the term can be monitored by developing Maxwell’s equation of momentum and energy with the pressure gradient term. To achieve this goal, an approximation technique, i.e. Homotopy Perturbation Method (HPM) is employed with an application of algorithms of Adams Method (AM) and Gear Method (GM). With this approximation method we can study… Show more

“…When inlet Q = 5 L h −1 , there was T = T solution at d ≥ 1.2 mm (Figure 2(a)), so the thickness of the thermal boundary layer in the test solution (δ solution ) could be determined as 1.2 mm. Similarly, when inlet Q = 20, 40, and 60 L h −1 , the δ solution values were 0.9, 0.7, and 0.6 mm, respectively, indicating that δ solution decreases with increasing inlet Q to accelerate the heat conduction [39]. Because of the slight decrease in δ solution when inlet Q > 20 L h −1 , we selected the inlet Q = 20 L h −1 in this study. )…”
