Effects of quarter heel raising exercise on balance and ankle strength in functional ankle instability subjects

Abstract: Background: Functional ankle instability (FAI) is defined as the subjective sensation of instability or "giving way" after an ankle sprain and occurs in approximately 40% of patients with lateral ankle instability. As an ankle joint rehabilitation intervention, heel raising exercises, toe jumping exercises, ankle joint proprioceptive exercises, as well as orthosis and taping are commonly applied to prevent the recurrence of an ankle joint injury. So this study was evaluated effect of quarter heel raising exerc… Show more

“…[ 2 , 42 , 43 ] Additionally, the combination of functional movement training with ankle control training, eliciting heightened calf muscle activation, yielded favorable outcomes on dynamic balance in young adults with ankle instability and older adults. [ 40 , 44 ] It is postulated that the positive effects derived from our SCE incorporating HO may be similar to those observed.…”

“…The peroneus muscles are major muscles acting on ankle eversion ( Seo and Lee, 2022 ) that contribute to lateral ankle stability (Bamber et al, 2021). The main peroneal muscles are the peroneus longus (PL) and the peroneus brevis (PB), each with specific roles.…”
