Effects of Redispersible EVA and E/VL/VC Powders on Properties of Decorative Mortar

Abstract: Redispersible polymer powders of Vinyl acetate / ethylene copolymer (EVA) and Ethylene/vinyl laurate/vinyl chloride copolymer (E/VL/VC) were applied to modify decorative mortar. Results showed that EVA and E/VL/VC both smoothed the surface of mortar, decreased the leachability of Ca2+, K+, Na+ ions and increased the leachability of SO42- in the surface leaching solution. However, with redispersible EVA and E/VL/VC being the same content, E/VL/VC-modified mortar hydrated for 1d showed lower bulk density, better… Show more

“…Moreover, the result of breakthrough achievement of D. van Gemert and E. Knapen in application water soluble polymer as modificator made the great progress [14]. Also on this Congress several examples of using watersoluble or water-emulsion as modificator have been presented [15][16][17][18][19][20][21]. Several papers, due to the research leitmotiv or due to the level of consideration, could be treated as 'trailers' of nanotechnology in C-PC [e.g.…”

“…E/VC/VL can also improve the workability, the bond strength and the impermeability, but its effect is somehow different from that of EVA [19,20]. The properties of cement mortar are related to the microstructure, cement hydration, hydrates and chemical interactions [21].…”
