Effects of rolling process on microstructure and properties of Mg–Gd–0.75Er–0.5Zn–0.18Zr alloy

Abstract: Mg-Gd-0.75Er-0.5Zn-0.18Zr alloy was subjected to conventional unidirectional rolling (UR) and cross-rolling (CR), and then annealed at 500°C for 30 min. The experimental results showed that the microstructure of the CR alloy sheet was mostly a fine and uniform equiaxial crystal structure. High degree of recrystallization occurred in both alloys after annealing, and the grains in CR alloy were finer and more uniform, and the texture strength of CR alloy was greatly weakened.
