Effects of salbutamol aerosol combined with magnesium sulfate on T-lymphocyte subgroup and Th1/Th2 cytokines of pediatric asthma

Abstract: The aim of the study was to analyze the effects of the intravenous infusion of salbutamol aerosol combined with magnesium sulfate in the treatment of pediatric asthma and the subsequent effects on the levels of T-lymphocyte subgroups and Th1/Th2 cytokines. A total of 86 patients with pediatric asthma, first diagnosed and treated at the Xuzhou Children's Hospital, were continuously selected and randomly divided into an observation group of 44 cases and control group of 42 cases. The patients in the control grou… Show more

“…The medicinal properties of saffron have been known for over 2500 years [30] and the pharmacological studies on saffron classified it as a safe and low toxic substance [31]. Saffron exhibits antioxidant properties [32] and anti-inflammatory activities [33] via its major metabolites crocin [34,35], crocetin [36], and safranal [37]. The neuroprotective role of saffron in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) [38], Parkinson's disease (PD), multiple sclerosis, and TBI [39] has been confirmed by increased research in both laboratory models and patient clinical trials [40].…”

“…Asthma is believed to be a most common respiratory disorder threatening hundreds of millions individuals worldwide, and the prevalence has increased considerably over the past decades. Inflammation of the airway is a key characteristic of asthma, the release of mediators from the inflammatory cells including eosinophils, lymphocytes, mast cells, and neutrophils (Amin, 2016;Januskevicius et al, 2016;Su et al, 2018), as well as inflammatory cytokines, such as interferon (IFN)-g, interleukin (IL)-1b, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-a (Yokoyama et al, 1995;Wei-xu et al, 2014;Huang et al, 2016;Diao et al, 2017), has been proposed to contribute directly or indirectly to changes in airway structure and function.…”

“…This process leads to immediate hypersensitivity and airway inflammation, which causes bronchial hyperresponsiveness and airway structural remodeling (21)(22)(23). Th1-derived cytokine IFN-γ, which can induce the activation of macrophages and generate immunoglobulin, is mainly characterized by its cytotoxic effects (24). IFN-γ can antagonize IL-4 by repressing Th2 cell responses and IgE production.…”
