Effects of Soil Temperature, Flooding, and Organic Matter Addition on N2O Emissions from a Soil of Hongze Lake Wetland, China

Abstract: The objectives of this study were to test the effects of soil temperature, flooding, and raw organic matter input on N2O emissions in a soil sampled at Hongze Lake wetland, Jiangsu Province, China. The treatments studied were—peat soil (I), peat soil under flooding (II), peat soil plus raw organic matter (III), and peat soil under flooding plus organic matter. These four treatments were incubated at 20°C and 35°C. The result showed that temperature increase could enhance N2O emissions rate and cumulative emiss… Show more

“…grassland and farmland), the environment of the littoral zone is more diverse and dynamic in terms of soil moisture, plant species and soil nutrients across scales of both space and time (Peng et al, 2011;Ahn et al, 2014;Trost et al, 2013). These variables may be expected to influence N 2 O production (Lu and Xu, 2014). Limited previous studies on N 2 O emissions of the littoral zone suggested significant spatio-temporal variations.…”

“…There has been found a relationship between soil temperature and CO 2 and NO 2 efflux: with increasing soil temperature, the efflux of these gases into the atmosphere increase as well. Thus, this effect becomes a positive feedback in the climate system (Haei et al, 2013;Lu, Xu, 2014;Albergel et al, 2015). The changes in soil temperature and evaporation are conditioned by the heat efflux in it.…”

“…Nustatyta, kad dirvožemio temperatūra turi ryšį su CO 2 ir NO 2 emisija: šylant dirvožemiui šių dujų išskyrimas į atmosferą didėja. Taigi šis efektas tampa teigiamu grįž tamuoju ryšiu klimato sistemoje (Haei ir kt., 2013;Lu, Xu, 2014; Albergel ir kt., 2015).…”
