Effects of some anti-neoplastic drugs on sheep liver sorbitol dehydrogenase

Abstract: Stress is an important factor for many diseases in living metabolisms. The mini pathway named as polyol is a critical junction for stress factors. This pathway has two enzymes: aldose reductase (AR) and sorbitol dehydrogenase (SDH). It is linked with some diseases such as diabetes mellitus and some cancer types. In particular, SDH is very sensitive and unstable in in vitro conditions. In this study, SDH was purified by using simple and rapid chromatographic methods such as DEAE-Sephadex and CM-Sephadex C-50 co… Show more

“…That is why enzyme inhibition studies are an important issue for drug design and biochemical applications (Alim & Beydemir, 2012;Demir et al, 2012a, b;Sayin et al, 2012;Sonmez et al, 2011). This study is the first report on the inhibition of cytosolic carbonic anhydrases by various antipsychotic drugs.…”

“…These enzymes have been purified from different tissues. Drug interactions studies of these essential enzymes have made significant contributions to the academic literature in the field of drug metabolism . For instance, we purified PON1 enzyme from human serum by using chromatographic methods.…”

“…It is interesting that they found CA inhibition in in vivo. On the other hand, CA activity is inhibited at low concentrations in vitro conditions, at high concentrations are also activated Besides, paraoxonase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and sorbitol dehydrogenase are enzymes studied the interactions with different chemicals Beydemir et al, 2003;Alım and Beydemir, 2012) In the present study, gentamycin, kanamycin, amikacin, lincomycin and clindamycin were selected to investigate inhibitory effect on the alcohol dehydrogenase activity. While the gentamycin, kanamycin and amikacin were aminoglycoside drugs, lincomycin and clindamycin were lincosamide group.…”
