“…Crossed ribs produced lowest heat transfer enhancement and smallest pressure drop penalty. Lau et al [9] examined turbulent heat transfer and friction characteristics of fully developed flow of air in square channel with aligned arrays of V-shaped ribs. Angle of attack of V-shaped rib arrays were 45 , 60 , 90 (same as 90 full ribs), 120 , and 135 .…”

“…For the range of Reynolds number studied, ribs of semicircular, triangular and square shape yielded about 1.6-2.0, 1.7-2.2 and 1.9-2.7 fold increase in average Nusselt number while friction factor increased by 4-8, 5-10 and 7-15 fold respectively. Lau et al [15], Taslim et al [16] and Olssom and Sunden [17] investigated the effect of V-shaped ribs in square channel and found enhancement in heat transfer as compared to inclined ribs and transverse ribs. Results showed that an average Stanton number for the inclined 45 and 60 discrete ribs was 20-35% higher than in 90 o full rib case.…”

“…Various other studies show that the use of V-ribs with different orientation and positions enhances the heat transfer and boost up the performance of a solar air heater as well as other applications.
