Effects of VitabridC12on Skin Inflammation

Abstract: BackgroundVitabridC12 is newly developed and composed of vitamin C and Vitabrid (lamellar, hydrated zinc oxide).ObjectiveIn this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of VitabridC12 on psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.MethodsMice with imiquimod-induced psoriasis or Dermatophagoides farinae-induced atopic dermatitis were applied with VitabridC12. VitabridC 12 treated mice had significantly decreased expression of pro‐inflammatory IL‐4 and chemokine ligand 4 (CCL4) and pro‐allergic cytokine thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) ( p < .05), compared with Vitabrid (Lee et al, ). “…Despite its positive antioxidant benefits, vitamin C is unstable, easily oxidized, and does not easily penetrate into the dermis. To overcome these limitations, zinc oxide (ZnO) has been compounded with vitamin C. Its hydrophobic exterior allows the formulation to penetrate target tissues and consistently release vitamin C for longer than 12 hr (Lee, Jeon, Choi, Kim, & Kim, ). Using a mouse model of house mite‐induced AD, daily application of vitamin C‐zinc oxide complex cream (VitabridC 12 ) for 6 days significantly decreased epidermal thickness ( p < .05) and reduced mast cells ( p < .05) compared with the control group that were not treated with any cream.…”
