Effects of yttrium on the oxidation behavior of 304 stainless steel with coating by laser remelting in high temperature water

Abstract: Effects of Y 2 O 3 on the oxidation behavior of 304 SS with coating by laser remelting after exposed to 290°C water containing 3 ppm O 2 for 72 h were investigated. It was found that the corrosion behavior of remelted layer on 304 SS with the addition of Y 2 O 3 was completely different from that of 304 SS and remelted layer on 304 SS without the addition of Y 2 O 3 . More Cr 2 O 3 hematite oxides were formed around strengthening phase near the Y 2 O 3 particles. With increasing exposure time, a little number … Show more

“…In addition, laser remelting is widely used to prepare amorphous coatings with compact structure and excellent properties. The formation of the molten pool during the remelting process is conducive to the mutual diffusion between the coating and the substrate, forming a metallurgical bond, which can greatly reduce the porosity of the coating and further improve the properties of the amorphous coating [19,20]. Al-based amorphous alloy coating has a potential market prospect in the field of surface coating because of its low cost and excellent wear and corrosion resistance.…”
