Key words:aflatoxin, broiler, adsorbent compounds, detoxificationThe objective of this study was to investigate the protective effect of dietary natural sorbent-Humate (0.2%) and Hydrated sodium calcium aluminosilicate (HSCAS) (0.5%) on the prevention of aflatoxin (AF) toxicity in the broiler chicken 7-35 days of age. Two hundred and forty broiler chicks were randomly divided into four treatment groups of 4 replicates (each contained 15 chicks). While chicks in group 1 were fed a basal diet free of toxin (control), group 2 chicks were fed a basal diet contaminated with 1ppm AF, the other two groups 3 and 4 were fed contaminated basal diet supplemented with 0.2% Biofarm® Dry humate, and 0.5% HSCAS, respectively. Parameters evaluated were growth performance, some serum constituents, some organs weight, and immune response to Newcastle disease and infectious bursal disease. The results showed that, Aflatoxin (1 ppm/kg) significantly reduced feed intake, weight gain and feed efficiency. Further aflatoxin increased the relative weights of liver, kidney, gizzard and spleen, while the relative weights of thymus and bursa of Fabricius were decreased by AF. Aflatoxin toxin also reduced antibody titres against Newcastle disease and infectious bursal disease. Modified 0.2% Humate significantly (P ≤ 0.05) improved body weight, feed intake, decreased relative organ weights and improved antibody titres, bursa of Fabricius and thymus weights. Hydrated sodium calcium aluminosilicate (0.5%) showed improvement against AF. The results of our experiment showed that 0.2% Humate and 0.5% HSCAS has a positive effect on the growth of broilers. And it could have been a suitable natural supplement for growing broilers against the adverse effects of aflatoxins.

Summary:The aim of this study was to determine the effects of dietary sepiolite on performance, egg quality, egg yolk cholesterol content and some blood parameters of laying hens during 22 weeks period. For this purpose a total of 135 Lohmann Brown laying hens, 38 weeks of age, were allocated to one control group and two treatment groups. Sepiolite was used at the level of 0, 0.5 and 1% for the diets of control group and the first and second treatment groups, respectively. Dietary sepiolite supplementation did not significantly affect feed intake, egg production, egg weight and feed conversion ratio. The values of egg breaking strength (p<0.01) and egg shell thickness (p<0.05) were increased, egg yolk cholesterol was decreased (p<0.05) by the usage of 1% sepiolite in the diet. Dietary treatments did not significantly affect egg shape index, egg albumen height, egg albumen index, egg yolk index and egg Haugh unit. Dietary sepiolite at 1% reduced cholesterol and triglyceride in serum (p<0.05) and increased total protein in serum (p<0.01). It was concluded that dietary supplementation of 1% sepiolite was effective feed additive in layer feeding due to the reduction in egg yolk cholesterol and improvement in egg shell quality.Key words: Blood parameters, egg quality, laying hen, performance, sepiolite. Yumurta tavuğu rasyonlarına sepiyolit ilavesinin performans, yumurta kalitesi ve bazı kan parametreleri üzerine etkisiÖzet: Bu araştırma, yumurta tavuğu rasyonlarına sepiyolit ilavesinin 22 hafta süreyle performans, yumurta kalitesi ve bazı kan parametreleri üzerine etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla 38 haftalık yaşta 135 adet Lohmann Brown yumurta tavuğu 1 kontrol ve 2 deneme grubuna ayrılmıştır. Sepiyolit kontrol, birinci ve ikinci deneme gruplarının rasyonlarında sırasıyla % 0, 0.5 ve 1 olacak şekilde ilave edilmiştir. Sepiyolit ilavesi yem tüketimi, yumurta verimi, yumurta ağırlığı ve yemden yararlanmayı etkilememiştir. Rasyonlarda %1 düzeyinde sepiyolit kullanılmasıyla yumurta kırılma mukavemeti (p<0.01) ve yumurta kabuk kalınlığı (p<0.05) artmış, yumurta kolesterol düzeyi (p<0.05) azalmıştır. Rasyonda sepiyolit bulunması yumurta şekil indeksi, ak yüksekliği, ak indeksi, sarı indeksi ve Haugh birimini önemli derecede etkilememiştir. Sepiyolitin %1 düzeyinde bulunması serum kolesterol ve trigliserit düzeylerini azaltmış (p<0.05), toplam protein düzeyini (p<0.01) artırmıştır. Sonuç olarak rasyona %1 düzeyinde sepiyolit ilavesi yumurta kolesterol düzeyini azaltması ve yumurta kabuk kalitesini iyileştirmesi bakımından yumurta tavuğu beslemede etkili bir yem katkı maddesi olacağı kanısına varılmıştır.

RESUMO -Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar o desempenho produtivo de matrizes de corte submetidas a dietas contendo aflatoxinas e adsorvente à base de glucomananos esterificados. Foram utilizados 300 fêmeas e 40 machos da linhagem Ross 308 alojados em 20 boxes experimentais na fase de 61 a 72 semanas de idade. Da 61 a à 68 a semana, as aves receberam dietas contendo três níveis de aflatoxina (0; 0,500; 0,750 mg/kg) em combinação ou não a adsorvente (0,10%) e, nas quatro últimas semanas, receberam dietas isentas de aflatoxina e adsorvente. As aves foram distribuídas em delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial (níveis de aflatoxina vs níveis de adsorvente) com 4 repetições, cada uma de 15 fêmeas e 2 machos. A partir da 65 a semana, as aves alimentadas com dietas contendo aflatoxina e adsorvente apresentaram menor taxa de postura em relação àquelas que receberam dietas comuns, sem esses aditivos. O peso corporal das matrizes, assim como o peso, o peso específico dos ovos, a eclodibilidade, e a qualidade dos pintos produzidos não são afetados pelos níveis de aflatoxinas e adsorvente presentes na dieta.Palavras-chave: glucomananos esterificados, micotoxinas, produção de ovos Productive performance of broiler breeders fed diets containing aflatoxins and esterified glucomannan as adsorbentsABSTRACT -The objective of this study was to evaluate the productive performance of broiler breeder hens fed diets containing aflatoxins and adsorbent on the basis of esterified glucomannan. It was used 300 Ross 308 females and 40 males broiler breeders, housed in 20 experimental pens in the 61-72 week of age phase. From the 61 st to the 68 th week, birds were fed diets containing three levels of aflatoxin (0; 0.500; 0.750 mg/kg) combined or not to adsorbent (0.10%) and on the last four weeks they received diets without aflatoxin and adsorbent. The birds were distributed in a complete randomized design in a factorial scheme (levels of aflotoxin vs levels of adsorbents) with 4 replicates, each one with 15 females and 2 males.From the 65 th week, birds fed diets with aflotoxin and adsorbent showed lower laying rate compared to those fed regular diets, without those additives. Body weight of the breeders as well as egg weight, specific egg weight, hatchability and quality of chicks produced are not affected by the levels of aflatoxins and adsorbent present in the diet.
