Efficacy of Assistive Technology for Improved Teaching and Learning in Computer Science

Abstract: This study examined the efficacy of assistive technology (AT) for improved teaching and learning in computer science (a case study of an inclusive educational system). Two (2) hypotheses were formulated and tested for this study. A descriptive survey method was adopted for this study, the population of this study comprises all Students with special needs and all teachers teaching at Durbar Grammar School, Oyo, Oyo State, Nigeria. A purposive sampling technique was used to select twenty ( 20) respondents (teach… Show more

“…The novelty of the work is the description of clusters by their own fuzzy triangular membership functions µ ρ , µ x , µ y and µ xy (5)(6)(7)(8)(9)(10), which allowed to correctly determine the membership of each student in a certain cluster. The development of fuzzy membership functions of objects belonging to clusters is also done for educational purposes, as it allows a better understanding of the principles of using fuzzy logic.…”

“…By correction of the coefficient k R in formulas (5)(6)(7)(8)(9), it is possible to clarify the values of fuzzy membership functions, to regulate more or less overlap of clusters. Thus, the proposed methodology allows supplementing clustering methods with fuzzy logic, which provides more accurate cluster analysis for educational data.…”

“…in teaching can make learning more engaging and interactive for students (Adebayo & Ayorinde, 2022;Widiasih et al, 2022). In particular, teachers play a central role in integrating technology into the classroom (Garcia, 2023;Morgado et al, 2021).…”

“…However, in order to not affect significantly the continuity of educational service, the migration of education took place, which went from being face-to-face to being strictly virtual [ 7 , 8 ]. This unusual educational reform caused additional uneasiness among the teachers since many of them were not prepared or used to teaching virtually [ 9 ]. In addition, the increase in workload and the need to develop their digital skills contributed to higher levels of stress and demotivation.…”
