Whether sprayed on the plants, fumigated, or topically applied to insects, garlic EOs display insecticidal properties against several orders including Blattodea, Isoptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, and Hemiptera that can affect all developmental stages (Regnault‐Roger & Hamraoui, 1995; Hori, 1996; Alghamdi, 2018; Bedini et al, 2020; Sedthapong et al, 2020). These lethal properties may be based on various mechanisms, impacting insect physiology and biochemistry, such as interruption of digestion via decreased activity of digestive enzymes (Shahriari & Sahebzadeh, 2017), inhibition of protein synthesis, and modification of energy metabolism as reported for Myzus persicae (Sulzer) or Sitotroga cerealella Olivier (Wu et al, 2020).…”
