Efficacy of Diclazuril against Turkey Coccidiosis in Dose-Titration Studies

Abstract: Diclazuril, a new anticoccidial drug, was tested for its efficacy in turkeys against single Eimeria infections. Dose-titration studies indicated that diclazuril at dosages of 0.1, 0.5, 1, and 2 ppm was highly effective against the major pathogenic species-E. adenoeides, E. gallopavonis, and E. meleagrimitis-in terms of weight gain and suppression of lesions, abnormal droppings, and oocyst shedding.

“…In the case of US-4767760, 21 it unveils the discovery of 5,6dihydro-2-(substituted phenyl)-1,2,4-triazine-3,5(2H,4H)-diones as effective compounds against Protozoa infections. Our PatentNetML method successfully ranked the key compound, Diclazuril 22,23 as the top compound among the predictions (1/ 50), outperforming traditional methods (CSA, MI, and FOG) that failed to do so. We employed SHAP force plots to gain insights into our prediction and visualize the features' influence.…”

“…This has been demonstrated experimentally for lasalocid and monensin, although the results are not always consistent (Mitrovic et al, 1979;Potter et al, 1986;Czarnecki, 1990). No significant reductions in weight gain were found in young poults given twice the approved use level of amprolium, diclazuril, maduramicin, robenidine or sulfadimethoxine (Mitrovic, 1968;Joyner & Norton, 1972;Vanparijs et al, 1989a;McDougald et al, 1990;Mathis, 1993). A slight weight gain depression was found, however, with 6 parts/10 6 halofuginone (McDougald, 1986).…”
