Efficacy of Hendersonia on the growth of seedlings of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) and Ganoderma disease control: A field-based study using GanoEF biofertilizer at Medan, Indonesia

Abstract: The present study aimed to test the efficiency of Hendersonia GanoEF biofertilizer against Ganoderma disease in the seedlings of oil palm (OP) Elaeis guineensis, and was carried out from February 2020 – January 2021 in Pulo Mandi Garden Nursery, at Medan, Indonesia. Experimental set up followed a completely randomized design with four treatments. Observation results showed that the percentage of root colonization by Hendersonia sp. in OP roots reached an average of 70.6% in the treatment with Ganoderma inocula… Show more

“…This approach aims to reduce reliance on synthetic fungicides and minimize environmental impact [ 362 ]. Hendersonia GanoEF biofertilizer effectively controls Ganoderma disease in oil palm seedlings, resulting in improved seedling growth and reduced disease incidence and severity [ 363 ]. GanoCare ® , a new fertilizer technology, shows efficacy in suppressing BSR caused by G. boninense in oil palm.…”

“…As a result, PGPRs may be employed to improve the nutrient availability, plant growth, and yields of the oil palm [34]. The use of Hendersonia PGPR had been proven effective against Ganoderma disease in the oil palm seedlings under a field-based study [35]. The early linkages would aid seedling adaptability to environmental conditions/stresses and increase survivorship [15,16].…”

“…Observations of disease incidence and severity were carried out every two weeks for 4 MAI (months after inoculation) by observing external symptoms on oil palm seedlings with external disease category values based onRakib et al (2015). At the end of the experiment, destructive disease incidence and severity were observed by observing internal symptoms in oil palm seedlings with internal disease category values based onPeng et al (2022).…”
